The Debat & Vous association in collaboration with the language department has decided to launch debating in World Style: a brand new activity in ESSEC. Debating is an activity that exists in most renowned universities in the UK and in the US. This activity is exclusively in English and it will be a great opportunity for you to show your debating skills over a great number of issues and under challenging rules.
Debating is a game of logic and eloquence in English in the British parliamentary style. It consists in a debate on a "motion", a fictive law proposal or moral position. The players speak one by one, alternate between "government" and "opposition" to rebut opponents and convince the auditory and especially the judges of the cogency of their position.
Our first debating session will be on Wednesday 29th November at 8:00 pm in PA109.
It will be an open Pizza & Beer requiring a modest contribution of 3 euros. It is open to all but we will need to form teams of two people, thus you might as well think of your teams before the beginning of the exhibition. A professional referee will be there. All will be explained then.
If interested, please send an email to Radu at radu.calin@essec.fr Tel: 0661252250
